Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. While the water heats, trim the ends off the broccoli rabe and cut the entire bunch into 1-inch pieces. Wash the cut broccoli rabe very well under cold running water.

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the washed broccoli rabe to the pot. Blanch for 5 minutes until slightly tender and bright green.

Drain the blanched broccoli rabe thoroughly using a colander. Set aside.

In a large skillet or pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté, stirring frequently, until the garlic is golden brown and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Add the blanched broccoli rabe, drained and rinsed cannellini beans, and chicken broth to the pan with the garlic and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine all ingredients.

Season generously with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir again to ensure seasonings are evenly distributed.

Cover the pan and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the broccoli rabe to become fully tender.

Remove the lid, stir once more, and serve hot as a side dish or light meal.
