Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the garlic butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the minced garlic and unsalted butter. Microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, or until the butter is fully melted. Stir in the granulated sugar and salt until well combined.

Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a clean cutting board or a lightly floured surface.

Liberally sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over one half of the unrolled puff pastry sheet.

Fold the other half of the puff pastry over the mozzarella, creating a cheese-filled rectangle. Use a rolling pin to gently roll the pastry flat, ensuring the cheese is encased and the pastry is evenly thin. It doesn't need to be perfectly shaped.

Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the flattened pastry into long, individual strips, approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches wide.

Take each strip and cut it lengthwise down the middle, stopping about halfway, creating two 'legs.' Overlap these two halves, then gently twist them together to form a spiral or braided shape.

Lightly brush the parchment paper on your prepared baking sheet with a small amount of butter (you can use a tiny bit of the garlic butter or plain melted butter) to prevent sticking. Arrange the twisted puff pastry strips on the baking sheet, leaving some space between them.

Brush each unbaked breadstick generously with the prepared garlic butter mixture. Then, grate a generous amount of fresh Parmesan cheese over all the breadsticks.

Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and puffed.

Once the breadsticks are out of the oven and still hot, brush them again with any remaining garlic butter.

Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired. Serve the warm Garlic Parm Breadsticks immediately with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.
