Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the chicken to the skillet. Season the chicken with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook until the chicken is browned.
Add the diced onion (if using) to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until softened.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Pour in 3 cups of chicken broth and 1 1/2 cups of milk or half-and-half. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

Add the uncooked egg noodles to the skillet and gently press them down so they are fully submerged in the liquid.

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then cover the skillet with a lid. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender.

Remove the lid and stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to finish the noodles.

Let the dish simmer for 1 to 2 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
Garnish with optional parsley, Parmesan cheese, or red pepper flakes and serve warm.
