Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper.

Roughly crush the Ritz crackers. This can be done by placing them in a plastic bag and crushing them with your hands or a rolling pin.

Pour the crushed Ritz crackers into a large mixing bowl.

Add the can of sweetened condensed milk and approximately 2 cups of chocolate chips to the bowl. Feel free to add more chocolate chips if desired.

Using a spatula, mix all the ingredients together until well combined.

Pour the mixture into the prepared 9x9 inch pan. Spread it evenly and press it down firmly with the spatula.

Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top of the mixture, as desired.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden and set. (The original recipe noted 14 minutes of baking time).

While the dessert is baking, scoop the can of store-bought frosting into a microwave-safe Pyrex measuring cup.

Microwave the frosting for 30 seconds to melt it.

Once the baked dessert is removed from the oven, immediately pour the melted frosting evenly over the top.

Use a spatula to spread the frosting across the entire surface of the dessert.

Allow the dessert to cool for about 5 minutes if it is too hot and bubbly, then serve warm by scooping out portions with a spoon.
