Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground pork (or chicken) to the hot pan and break it up with a spatula. Add a splash of water, increase heat to high, and season with salt and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes. Transfer the cooked meat to a large mixing bowl to cool.

In a separate small, dry pan, toast the sesame seeds over medium heat for approximately 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are fragrant and lightly golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

While the meat cools, prepare the aromatics and herbs. To the cooled ground pork in the mixing bowl, add the thinly sliced shallots, chopped green onions, fresh chopped cilantro, and torn mint leaves.

In a small bowl, combine the fish sauce, water, granulated sugar, fresh lime juice, minced garlic, and chili flakes. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved and all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Add the cooled, toasted sesame seeds to the pork and herb mixture in the large mixing bowl. Pour the prepared dressing over the mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated.

Arrange the separated and washed Romaine lettuce leaves on a serving platter. Spoon a generous amount of the prepared pork mixture into each lettuce cup. Garnish with crispy fried onions.

Serve immediately and enjoy your fresh, tangy, and savory Easy Asian Lettuce Wraps!
