In a large glass bowl, combine the 3/4 cup lukewarm water or milk, 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast, 1/4 cup white sugar, and 1 large egg. Stir the mixture until well combined.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture: 3 1/4 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons milk powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.

Mix the ingredients with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms, then begin kneading by hand in the bowl.

Add the 3 tablespoons margarine or butter to the dough and continue kneading until the margarine is fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

Lightly oil a silicone mat or clean surface. Transfer the dough onto the oiled surface and knead it briefly.

Grease the large glass bowl with oil. Place the dough back into the greased bowl and cover it tightly with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest and rise for 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Once the dough has risen, gently remove it from the bowl onto the silicone mat.

Using a dough scraper, divide the dough into small pieces, approximately 30 grams each. Shape each piece into a small, smooth ball.

Cover the small dough balls with plastic wrap and let them rest for another 10 minutes.

Prepare the Cheese Streusel: In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, 2/3 cup powdered milk, and 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. Add 1/2 cup margarine. Mix with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Assemble the Cheese Bread: Take one small dough ball. Flatten it into a disc. Place a small cube (or cubes) of cream cheese in the center. Carefully gather the edges of the dough around the cream cheese and pinch them together to seal the filling inside, forming a smooth ball.

Dip the filled dough ball briefly in milk.

Roll the milk-dipped dough ball thoroughly in the prepared cheese streusel mixture, ensuring it's evenly coated.

Place the coated dough balls into a square baking pan, arranging them close together.

Place the baking pan with the cheese bread into an air fryer. Air fry until golden brown and cooked through. (Approximate air fryer settings are 325°F (160°C) for 12-15 minutes, but cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model).

Once baked, remove from the air fryer. The bread can be gently pulled apart and served warm.
