Add the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter to an 8 x 8-inch baking dish. Set the baking dish in the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F. Once the butter is melted in the oven, remove the baking dish. This should take 4-6 minutes. Set the baking dish aside while preparing the batter.

In a bowl, mix the 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, 3/4 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Whisk these dry ingredients to incorporate them evenly. Add the 2/3 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture and whisk until smooth.

Pour the prepared batter into the baking dish with the melted butter. There is no need to stir the batter and butter together. Add the 4 cups of peeled and sliced peaches directly on top of the batter.

Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F until the cobbler is golden and set in the middle, which will take 45-55 minutes. Once baked, remove the cobbler from the oven and cool for 15 minutes before serving. Add a scoop of ice cream for serving.
