Add the 16 ounces of sour cream to a high-speed blender.

Add the deseeded and roughly chopped jalapeño pepper, roughly chopped fresh cilantro, peeled garlic cloves, and 1/4 cup of milk to the blender.

Add the ranch seasoning (either one packet or 2 tablespoons of homemade blend) to the blender.

Secure the lid on the blender and blend all ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Continue blending until no visible chunks remain and the sauce has a pale green color. If the sauce is too thick, add additional milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until your desired consistency is reached.

Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve immediately as a dip with crackers, vegetables, or as a sauce for your favorite dishes.
