Preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a round cake pan generously with butter, then dust it lightly with flour, tapping out any excess. Set aside.

Wash the whole orange thoroughly. Cut the orange into several pieces, making sure to remove any seeds.

Place the cut orange pieces into a blender. Crack 3 eggs and add them to the blender. Add 200 g of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 1/2 cup of milk. Blend all these ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth.

In a large mixing bowl, sift 250 g of all-purpose flour. Add 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the sifted flour. Whisk these dry ingredients together thoroughly until well combined.

Pour the smooth, blended wet mixture from the blender into the bowl containing the dry ingredients. Using a whisk, gently mix the wet and dry ingredients until they are just combined and form a smooth batter. Be careful not to overmix.

Pour the prepared cake batter into the buttered and floured cake pan. Place the cake pan into the preheated oven.

Bake for 40-45 minutes at 180°C, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze.

For the glaze, combine 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of orange juice in a small saucepan. Add the thin orange slices. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Continue to simmer for 5-7 minutes until the glaze slightly thickens. Keep warm.

Once the cake is baked and has turned a golden brown, remove it from the oven. While the cake is still warm, pour the warm glaze evenly over the top of the cake, ensuring the orange slices are distributed.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before unmolding. Then, allow it to cool slightly more before slicing and serving.
