Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package directions until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1 1/2 cups of the pasta cooking water.

While the pasta is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon of kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Add the drained spaghetti directly to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce seems too thick, add the reserved pasta cooking water, 1/4 cup at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.

Serve immediately, garnished with extra grated Parmesan cheese, fresh black pepper, and chopped fresh parsley.
