Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking tray by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.

Peel the 3 large onions and cut them in half through the root end. Carefully separate the layers to create individual onion 'shells'. You will use these shells to form the bombs.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cooked bacon, salt, black pepper, paprika, and chili flakes (if using). Add 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce and mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.

To assemble the onion bombs, take two appropriately sized onion layers. Place a portion of the beef mixture into the center of one onion layer. Press another onion layer around the beef mixture, gently enclosing it to form a ball. Repeat this process with the remaining onion layers and beef filling, aiming to create uniform bombs.

Arrange the assembled Firecracker Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Onion Bombs on the prepared baking tray.

Bake the onion bombs in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the ground beef is fully cooked through and the onions are tender. The internal temperature of the beef should reach 160°F (71°C).

For an optional extra flavor boost, brush the onion bombs with additional BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of baking.

Carefully remove the Firecracker Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Onion Bombs from the oven and serve hot.
