Place 1 1/2 cups of pitted Medjool dates into a bowl.

Pour 1/2 cup of hot water over the dates.

Let the dates soak for 10 minutes.

After soaking, carefully drain the dates, making sure to reserve the soaking water for later use.

Transfer the drained dates to a food processor.

Add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder to the food processor.

Add 1/2 cup of almond flour to the food processor.

Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the food processor.

Blend the ingredients in the food processor until a cohesive dough forms. If the mixture appears too dry, stop the food processor, scrape down the sides, add 1 tablespoon of the reserved date water, and blend again. Repeat this step, adding 1 tablespoon of reserved water at a time, until a cohesive dough forms that can be pressed together.

Line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang on the sides to easily lift the brownies later.

Press the prepared brownie dough evenly into the lined pan, ensuring it's spread to all edges.

Sprinkle 1/4 cup of chocolate chips evenly over the top of the pressed dough.

Gently press the chocolate chips into the dough to adhere them, preventing them from falling off when cut.

Place the pan in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to allow the brownies to set firmly.

Once set, remove the pan from the freezer. Use the parchment paper overhang to easily lift the entire brownie slab from the pan.

Place the brownie slab on a cutting board and cut it into 16 even squares.

Serve and enjoy these delicious, guilt-free date brownies!
