In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar. Whisk them together to ensure they are well mixed.

In a separate medium bowl, crack the 4 large eggs. Add the milk to the eggs and whisk until just combined.

Pour the wet egg mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Using an electric mixer, begin to mix on low speed until the ingredients are mostly combined. While continuing to mix, gradually add the vegetable oil and increase the speed to medium. Mix until the batter is smooth and uniform in consistency, about 2-3 minutes. The batter should be light yellow.

Divide the smooth batter evenly into 5 separate small bowls. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one bowl, purple to another, blue to the third, green to the fourth, and yellow to the fifth. Mix each bowl thoroughly with a spoon or small whisk until the colors are vibrant and evenly distributed.

Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line the bottom of a 20 cm round springform cake pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the sides of the pan with butter or cooking spray.

Starting with one color (e.g., pink), pour about 2 tablespoons of batter into the very center of the prepared cake pan. Immediately pour about 2 tablespoons of a different colored batter (e.g., purple) directly into the center of the previous color. Continue this process, alternating colors (blue, green, yellow, then back to pink, etc.), pouring each new color into the center of the last, allowing the batter to spread outwards and create concentric rings. Repeat until all the colored batter is used.

Take a skewer or a toothpick. Starting from the center of the batter, gently drag the skewer outwards towards the edge of the pan. Then, starting from the edge, drag the skewer inwards towards the center. Repeat this process, alternating directions around the cake (e.g., 8-12 drags), to create a decorative web or flower-like swirl pattern.

Carefully place the cake pan into the preheated oven. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown, a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, and the cake springs back when lightly touched.

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Then, run a knife around the edge of the pan, release the springform, and carefully invert the cake onto a wire rack. Remove the parchment paper from the bottom. Allow the cake to cool completely, about 45 minutes to 1 hour, before frosting.

Once the cake has completely cooled, spread the white frosting evenly over the top surface of the cake using an offset spatula or knife.

Transfer the green frosting to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip (or snip a tiny corner off a Ziploc bag). Pipe small, evenly spaced dots in concentric circles on top of the white frosting, leaving space for the yellow dots.

Transfer the yellow frosting to a separate piping bag fitted with an even smaller round tip. Pipe a smaller yellow dot directly on top of each green dot.

Take a clean toothpick or skewer. Gently drag it through the center of each yellow dot, extending slightly outwards to create a small heart-like or leaf-like design on each dot, blending the green and yellow frostings.

The colorful Rainbow Swirl Cake is now ready to be sliced and served. Enjoy!
