Heat the olive oil in a large pan or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the chopped shallots to the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

Pour in the can of diced tomatoes and the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil.
