Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Line a 12-hole muffin tin with paper liners or grease it with oil.

In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: chickpea flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: maple syrup, melted coconut oil, plant-based milk, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix until the ingredients are just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.

Gently fold in 1/2 cup (80g) of chocolate chips into the batter.

Divide the batter evenly among the 12 prepared muffin cups.

Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips on top of the muffins.

Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Let the muffins cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
