Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

In a medium glass bowl, combine the soy sauce, orange juice, white miso paste, minced fresh ginger, freshly ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Whisk all the marinade ingredients thoroughly until the miso paste is fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

Place the chuck roast into a large Dutch oven or a deep, oven-safe baking dish with a lid.

Pour the prepared miso ginger and orange marinade over the chuck roast, ensuring the meat is completely coated. You may use your hands to rub the marinade into the meat.

Cover the Dutch oven or baking dish tightly with its lid.

Carefully place the covered dish into the preheated oven and bake for 4 hours, or until the chuck roast is incredibly tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Remove the chuck roast from the oven. Using two forks, shred the tender meat directly in the cooking liquid. Serve warm with your preferred sides.
