Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and flour a round glass baking dish, or line with parchment paper.

In a medium saucepan, combine the broken semi-sweet chocolate and butter. Melt over low heat, stirring continuously with a spatula until completely smooth and combined. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

In a large glass bowl, add the brown sugar and crack in the eggs. Using a hand mixer, beat the brown sugar and eggs together until the mixture is light in color and frothy, about 2-3 minutes.

Pour the slightly cooled melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Beat with the hand mixer until well incorporated and smooth.

Add the flour and cocoa powder to the wet mixture. Add the chocolate chips.

Using a spatula, gently fold the dry ingredients and chocolate chips into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to tough brownies.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared round glass baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, but not wet batter. The top should have a firm crust, but the center should remain fudgy.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. The brownies will continue to set as they cool.
